Intelligent Design explains nothing, in effect all ID says is that things happened by a supernatural means that we are unable to figure out. This is equivalent to saying that things happen by magic. A scientific theory has explanatory power if you can deduce facts from it. No facts have ever been deduced from ID.
There is no scientific theory to ID. If there is no theory there can be no explanatory power to ID.
