Creationism was the standard explanation until Darwin published Origin of Species in 1859. And for some decades after that, creationism was still considered to be a valid explanation. But with more and more evidence, creationism was replaced by evolution. Most of the famous scientists creationists like to mention, such as Newton, lived long before evolution was published. And others were not familiar with it, since evolution was not their field of study. There are almost no creationist scientists today. Creationists imply that all scientists who support evolution are lying, stupid, or incompetent. That is just preposterous.
